Wavy Abstract Background

The Process

Insight into the Different Stages of Data Visualization

Data Visualization is a multi-step process which can be broken down into seven main stages: Acquire, Parse, Mine, Filter, Represent, Critique, and Refine. Explore how we applied each stage to our project

Acquire

We gathered datasets from credible sources in this stage. We took steps to ensure that the data was relevant, accurate, and reliable.

Mine

We made statistical analyses from each dataset and found which data was applicable for the represent stage. Conversions and calculations were made in this stage.

Critique

We received feedback from other groups for improving our visualizations, and provided critique to another team to help them improve their own visualizations.

Parse

We provided structure to our data and analyzed the different categories and data types. We further assessed if the data was appropriate for our project

Filter and Represent

We made statistical analyses from each dataset and found which data was applicable for the represent stage. Conversions and calculations were made in this stage.

Refine

We implemented the changes we received in our critique to improve our final visualizations.

The Formulation

Our Team Agreement

Agreements, work division, and coordination

Project Proposal

Initial project ideas, process planning, further work division

Identifying Topics

Determining the focus of our project

Topics to Questions

Formulating questions we wanted to answer

Questions to a Problem

Identifying the problem we were trying to solve

Problems to Data Sources

Researching data sources that were relevant to our problem

Final Report

A thorough breakdown of the process from start to finish, including the team's contributions and diversity statement.
